A Word from the Pastor

Last Friday our new tenants had the ribbon cutting ceremony for the “Children’s Therapy Center”. It was an exciting day for the parents and children to be able to have this space for the older children. It was exciting for us too, to be a part of the event and to know that our school is being used once again in a very worthy way. As I have mentioned before, the children that come to this school have multiple challenges. This school allows these children to continue with their learning from 8 years old till 13. Before this school was acquired, these children had to find alternate situations for all the therapies they needed. To see the tears of joy in the parents eyes as they spoke with such gratitude to have this place; made me feel very proud and privileged to be part of ‘Church of the Nativity’. Another parent told me that she was so happy to be on the grounds of a Catholic church, because she felt it was the closest that she would get to send her child to a Catholic school. I thought that was a great perspective and a nice reflection for me. Please continue to pray for them.

In the deepest recesses of our hearts, we all desire to live in union with one another as God intends. The gospel intimates that the kingdom of God belongs to those who
yield “hardness of …hearts” to the open embrace Jesus Models. Just as the gospel moves from shortsighted confrontation over Mosaic laws of divorce to Jesus’ tender embrace of children, so our lives move from our own shortsightedness to the wide embrace of God’s ultimate plan---the blessing of union with one another. To our experience throughout history, divorce has always been problematic. The Pharisees tested Jesus, which is to say they used a thorny issue to nail him. Jesus moves them from specific theological debate to the larger perspective of the ways of God’s kingdom. (taken from Living Liturgy)
